The German Shorthaired Pointer Characteristics:

Thrives as part of an active family.
An athlete, he requires consistent exercise.
He is an even-tempered, highly intelligent loyal family watchdog.
He possesses a keen scenting power.
The German Shorthaired Pointer's short coat sheds, but grooming is minimal.
A medium-sized breed, he has an aristocratic bearing and can be solid liver or liver and white in color.
Standard Height: 23 - 25 inches at shoulder
Standard Weight: 55 - 70 lbs.

With over 40 years of breeding German Shorthaired Pointers, Mar Mac Kennels, located in McKean, PA, has had derby classic winners in the field and has competed in the show ring . . . nationally-ranked top five . . . at the Westminster Dog Show. Most dogs bred at our kennel are finished either in the field or on the bench.

German Shorthairs are the most versatile bird dog of all: flush, point, retrieve, and loves duck blinds. The breed is proficient with many different types of game and sport, including trailing, retrieving, and pointing pheasant, quail, grouse, and waterfowl.

This breed loves its people and wants to be with its family as much as possible. GSPs are loyal, gental and affectionate to all family members. This outgoing and friendly breed makes a great playmate for older children and adores active outdoor games.
